The Sunway Lagoon folks are putting together another musical, this time one to do with magic lamps, genies and magic carpets.
Yep, they're staging the much-loved tale of Aladdin and as with their two previous musicals, they're giving AMBP members, and bloggers in general, a chance to watch it for free.
The premiere is scheduled for November 25, and if you want to try to get your hands on a couple of free passes, just, well, show your interest. The more enthusiastic you are about this event, and the more you show it on your blog, the more likely you'll end up winning yourself some tix.
Note that we've only got a limited amount of passes to give away, so do hurry.
Prior to the premiere, we're giving some of you a chance to see how it's like to prepare for a musical production by providing you access to the cast and crew, where you get to meet & greet, and interview them. Note that if you are selected for this, you are guaranteed a seat for the Grand Premiere. This will take place on November 19.
Now here's one album that I'd definitely want to win if I were a participant of this contest. But since I'm sitting on this side of the fence, I'd just have to be contented with my copy of the original non-20th anniversary version of the album. Poor me.
But seriously, you must get your hands on this one, simply because, one, it's Nirvana, and two, it's Nevermind, the band's most successful record, the very one that was credited for bringing alternative rock to a large mainstream audience.
Yes, this is one of the most influential rock albums of all time. Apart from that, it is, plain and simple, a kick-ass piece of work.
So if you're still in your Justin Bieber phase (perfectly OK so this is by no means a slight to your music sensibilities), try to win this one for the future, for when you pass that phase. Trust me, that day will come and you'll thank me later. It could take 20 years, but it will come. ;)
If you've already imbibed the power that comes with listening to Nirvana's Nevermind, then, well, you don't need me to tell you how life changing it could be. Heh. I'm sure you can tell this is personal, and I could go on, but well, nevermind.
So. Back to the contest. Universal Music has given us five (5) copies of Nirvana's Nevermind 20th anniversary album to give away. If you're adjudged one of the Top 5 entries, you win the CD as well as a commemorative T-Shirt. There are also 10 Consolation Prizes (just the T-Shirt) up for grabs.
To stand a chance to win, you'll need to:
1) Post up this pic:
2) Tell us why we should choose you as the winner.
...on your blog. Then send the link to that particular blog post as a comment here or send it via e-mail to [contact AT allmalaysia.info]. You've got until November 20 to impress us. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
Oh, and the obligatory message from our sponsor: Purchase Nirvana's Nevermind 20th anniversary album (single disc) and get a limited edition t-shirt while stocks last.
Well, the year has been whizzing along, and I must admit, it has, thus far, been great fun. What with the changes that have taken place here in the office - more responsibilities, more projects, more work.
But, again, while there's more to do, it has generally been more exciting/fun.
The only downside to that is I have had to mothball AMBP. Still, I've tried to at least do the once-a-month thing, usually with a simple contest, so that you have something to keep you busy as far as AMBP is concerned.
So, where are we then?
Oh yea, this month's Music CD Giveaway. We have a compilation album called Power Hits - Top of the Summer Charts 2011, which really begs the question: do they have a Winter/Autumn/Spring Charts?
Anyway, while I must admit the album's not to my music taste, I must say that it seems interesting enough to run a contest. Here's the track listing for you to digest, so that you can decide if you want to put in an entry or not:
LMFAO Party Rock Anthem Jennifer Lopez On The Floor Jessie J Price Tag Far East Movement feat Ryan Tedder - Rocketeer Lady Gaga - Judas Colbie Caillat - I Do The Black Eyed Peas Just Cant Get Enough Nicki Minaj Super Bass One Republic - Good Life Rihanna S&M Diddy Dirty Money Coming Home Dev feat, Cataracs Bass Down Low Plain White Tees Rhythm Of Love Owl City Alligator Sky Nelly feat Kelly Rowland - Gone Justin Bieber That Should Be Me Neon Trees - 1983 All Time Low I Feel Like Dancing Jeremih Feat 50 Cent Down On Me Nicole Scherzinger Dont Hold Your Breath
You know the drill:
1) Answer this question: What Nicky Minaj song is featured in the compilation album Power Hits - Top of the Summer Charts 2011?
2) Post up this pic:
3) Tell us why we should choose you as the winner.
...all on your blog. Then send the link to that particular blog post as a comment here or send it via e-mail to [contact AT allmalaysia.info]. Ten best entries take home the CDs.
You've got until October 20, 2011 to complete the above tasks. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
Winners, winners, winners!
We still have a lot of CDs for the two Music CD Giveaways (Lady Gaga and Power Hits 2011) prior to the last one uncollected for some reason, so we figured it's probably due to our e-mail going to your Spam folder, so we're gonna send e-mails to the winners again.
So, if you entered the last three Music CD Giveaways, please check your Inbox AND your Spam folder. If you receive the e-mail informing you that you're a winner, do come and collect your CD(s); we're running out of space in the storeroom. :)
Universal Music, who has been the kind sponsors of our regular Music CD Giveaway series, is running a campaign called 'Best of Best 2011', offering consumers up to 30% discount for a wide selection of their CDs.
Basically what this means is, up till Aug 31, you'll only have to pay RM29.90 for Single Disc CDs, and RM39.90 for Double-Disc CDs.
But you know what's even more cool? You have a chance, right here, to win two CDs of your choice from the seven listed below:
Jay-Z The Hits Collection Bon Jovi Greatest Hits Nirvana Live At Reading Tokio Hotel Best Of Queen Greatest Hits I Carpenters 40/40 Sting - Live In Berlin
Now here's what you have to do to put yourself in the running to be a winner:
1. Choose the two albums that you'd like to win from the list above.
2. Come up with your own tagline, one that delivers the same message as the official one (Bringing the Best Value Out of the Best), but add in your own flavour to it.
Make it funny and catchy, but most of all, make it yours.
Taglines shouldn't be longer than one sentence. You can post as many taglilnes as you like but only one your taglines will win you a prize (or in this case, two prizes!).
And that's it. Post your choice of CDs and your tagline(s) on your blog, and send the link to that particular post as a comment here, OR send it via e-mail to [contact AT allmalaysia.info].
The 10 best taglines will win their choice of CDs. You have until Aug 28 to send in your entries. Good luck!
Oh, and for those of you who took part in the Lady Gaga Contest, watch this space. I'll update this post with the Winners List in a day or two.
Hiya. Before I get down to the business at hand (i.e. the Music CD Giveaway), let me just say thank you to all of you who wrote about Sunway Lagoon's Magical Musical. Initially, I wanted to list down, and post links to the blogs who have written about the show, here, but decided against it for my own sanity.
Moving on. The artiste we're featuring for this month's Music CD Giveaway needs no introduction, unless of course, if I introduced her as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, the name she was christened at birth, in which case you'd react either by 1) going "huh?" or 2) acting all smug for knowing who that name belongs to.
Either way, everyone knows her by the name Lady Gaga. She recently released her second studio album Born This Way and as expected it topped the charts in all major musical markets. To sample one of the tracks, simply head on over to http://youtu.be/wagn8Wrmzuc?hd=1.
Now, as an AMBP member, can put yourself in the running to win this very album simply by following these steps:
1) Answer this question: What is Lady Gaga's real name?
2) Post up this pic.
and, 3) Tell us why you love the lady...
all on your blog. Then send the link to that particular blog post as a comment here.
Sunway Lagoon is at it again. They're bringing some talented folks over from London's West End theatres to perform right here in KL, just like they did with Peter Pan the Musical last year.
This time around, they've promised a bigger, better, more oomph show, and they're doing so by bringing more talents who'll be performing songs that you're familiar with, and oh, they've made some major improvements to the Amphitheatre in Sunway Lagoon.
What that translates to is a well, bigger, better, more oomph show, we suppose.
The 90 minute production is called Magical Musicals, and will run from June 10 to July 17 at the Amphitheatre@ Sunway Lagoon. It will feature songs from Moulin Rouge!, Mamma Mia!, Dreamgirls, Fame, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Footloose, We Will Rock You, West Side Story, Hairspray and even the latest television musical phenomenon, Glee.
But you know how it is. When we say "you're invited", what we actually mean is we wish we could give each and every member a ticket to watch the show, but unfortunately, we can't.
We've only got 140 Grand Premiere tickets (June 10, mixture of Red and Blue Zone tickets) to give away, so 70 of you will get to win a ticket for yourself and a friend, simply by registering your interest.
For more info on the show, and on how you can improve your chances of winning, mosey on over to our Magical Musicals page.
One other way you can get yourself a free ticket is by joining Sunway Lagoon's Flash Mob via AMBP/allMalaysia.info.
You'll have to first confirm that you want to participate in the Flash Mob by registering here, but in order for you to win 1 Yellow Zone Ticket to Magical Musicals you'll have to indicate that you're an AMBP member or an allMalaysia.info reader.
So if your name is Ibby Oli, and you happen to love to jump around dance, which makes you fairly suitable for this flash mob thingy, you'll have to do the following when you fill up the form:
Eg. First Name: Ibby (allMalaysia.info) or Ibby (AMBP) Last Name: Oli
So, there you go. Just two of the ways for you to win tickets to watch Sunway Lagoon's Magical Musicals.
If you're not a blogger or an AMBP member, and if you're rubbish at dancing, don't fret. We're cooking something up just for you and it won't involve dancing, blogging or chest-thumping. Just visit allMalaysia.info; if we run a contest or giveaway or something, we'll run it there.
Quick one. Here's another Music CD Giveaway and we've got 10
copies of a compilation album called Power Hits 2011 just for you, courtesy of Universal Music.
The album features "the latest hit songs from artistes that have ruled the world and dominated the radio waves", or at least that's what the document from the PR people at Universal Music boldly claims.
Still, if you're a fan of today's pop music (yes, I'm old), there are quite a number of huge names that form part of the line-up for this album. Here's the track listing so you get an idea what you're competing for:
Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit) Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) Far East Movement featuring The Cataracs & DEV - Like A G6 Taio Cruz feat. Kylie Minogue - Higher Enrique Iglesias - Tonight Im Loving You Neon Trees - Animal Justin Bieber - Pray Akon - Angel Tokio Hotel Hurricane And Suns Maroon 5 Give A Little More Kanye West featuring Pusha T - Runaway Nelly Just A Dream Ne-Yo One In A million Lady Gaga - Alejandro Mohombi featuring Akon Dirty Situation Nelly Furtado Night Is Young Nicki Minaj, will.i.am Check It Out Cheryl Cole Promise This Take That The Flood Duffy Well, Well, Well
To put yourself in the running to win the CD, simply let us know who among those featured in this album is your favourite artiste, and why. A one-liner would do, but we're not going to stop you if you're in the mood to write a thesis.
You can either leave your answers as a comment here, or write it on your blog. Just don't forget to send the link to that particular blog post as a comment here.
Note that only valid entries will be entertained. That is, you'll have
to be an AMBP member and you have to ensure that your details are
Winners are advised to collect their tickets at the allMalaysia.info/AMBP booth at the entrance of the cinema 45 minutes prior to the Special Screening. Try not to be *too* late, 'kay? ;)

Firstly, sorry about the headline above but it's just way too cheesy to let pass.
Anyway, yes, we've arranged a free movie screening, thanks to the folks over at United International Pictures who were kind enough to supply the passes. Oh, and it's got nothing to do with the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye.
Instead we've got HOP, a little flick that blends animation with live action, much like how Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Cool World. (remember this?) did. But this one's way cooler 'cos David Hasselhoff makes a cameo appearance (heh).
The story follows the teenage son of the Easter Bunny, that goes by the horribly unoriginal name of E.B (voiced by Brit funnyman Russell Brand). E.B. decides to leave for Hollywood a day before he is due to take over the family business to pursue his dreams of becoming a drummer.
He encounters an out-of-work slacker named Fred (James Marsden), and naturally, comedy and much mayhem ensue.
To get your hands on the double passes, simply leave a comment here, answering the following two questions:
1) Name the funny bloke who voices the animated rabbit. 2) What's the name of the rabbit?
Passes are given out on a first come, first served basis until we run out of them.
Note that only valid entries will be entertained. That is, you'll have to be an AMBP member and you have to ensure that your details are updated. (If we can't contact you, it's a little hard to pass you the passes, no?)
Congratulations to the winners. You can collect your prizes from us at Menara Star in Phileo Damansara, PJ, unless of course if you stay in East Malaysia, in which case we'll send it to you via Pos Malaysia.
Another year, another month, and another Music CD Giveaway.
This time around our featured artiste is country-pop music sensation Taylor Swift.
As you may have heard, she'll be continuing the trend of acts NOT coming to Malaysia. As per usual, she'll perform in Singapore instead, as part of her world tour.
So if you can't quite make the trip down south, why not join this here contest. It's easy as pie, and it doesn't cost a dime. There, that's me trying to make you feel better. (Yeah, I suck at it, I know).
Anyways, we've got 10 copies of Swift's third album 'Speak Now' (LEP Edition) up for grabs, each of which comes with a Taylor Swift t-shirt (and no, it's not a t-shirt she got all sweaty in, you perv.).
Impressively, she wrote all 14 songs on the album, which features this hit song called 'Mine'...:
A copy of the album could be yours, if you do the following:
1) Answer this question: What's the name of Taylor Swift's third studio album? Is it: a) Speak Now; b) Speak Later; or c) Don't Speak ?
2) Post up this pic:
3) Tell us why you're a fan of Taylor Swift.
...all on your blog. Then send the link to that particular blog post as a comment here. Ten best entries take home the CDs.
You've got until Feb 20, 2011 to complete the above tasks. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
